The Office of International Academic Relations at Al-Quds University (AQU) hosted a visiting Professor of Medicine from the University of Florence in Italy. Prof. Francesca Tarantini gave several lectures in Geriatrics under the framework of Erasmus Plus Program for Academic Exchange between Al-Quds and Florence Universities.
The visiting professor’s program at AQU featured lectures in Geriatrics that were presented to the students in the Faculty of Medicine who are engaged in clinical training at the Palestine Medical Complex Hospital, Istishari Hospital, and Makassed Hospital. The lectures covered specific topics, including the health of the elderly and the treatment of common diseases in old age, as well as the effects and disabilities of such diseases.
Prof. Tarantini also shared the experience of Italian hospitals and the challenges they faced in dealing with Covid-19, especially among elderly patients, when it spread widely in Italy.
The participating students expressed their appreciation of the lecturer for sharing information in an easy and simplified manner. They remarked that the experience they had with the Italian visiting professor was certainly an opportunity that AQU students should take advantage of.
It is worth noting that Al-Quds University has built an extensive network of international partnerships with prestigious universities and leading institutions around the globe, which aim to help the students foster their educational and practical skills by exposure to foreign expertise.
