Al-Quds University signed a memorandum of understanding with “Al Ofoq Foundation for Youth Development” towards creating “Al Ofoq fund for Students Empowering” which was established in partnership with Al-Quds University, Al Ofoq foundation and TNB Bank, which aims at offering loans without interest to university students to enable them pay their university tuition fees according to concessional mechanism.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Imad Abu Kishek, President of Al-Quds University, who paid tribute to the role of this fund which represents a big support to Jerusalem, its University, students and society by helping Palestinian families who consider education as their priority.
Prof. Abu Kishek emphasized that this project is considered a good and important step towards promoting partnership between the Palestinian Universities, civil society institutions and Banks that work in the Palestinian Authority in order to serve the developmental process in the Palestinian society.
Dr. Mohammed Alfrarjeh. Executive Director of Al Ofoq foundation signed this agreement, who praised the effective role that Al-Quds University plays in the sustainability of the educational process, this University which is considered one of the most important pillars of education in Jerusalem and a key tributary for its creative youth energies, stressing the significant of launching this fund particularly in its initial stages from Al-Quds (Jerusalem) because of its national, political specificity.
Dr. Ahmad Musleh, chairman of Al Ofoq foundation explained the nature and purpose of this foundation and projects it carries out, notably those concerned with training and the employment of recent graduates in order to participate and assist in resolving part of the unemployment problem, which needs both efforts of civil institutions and the government and official institutions to solve it.
At the end of this meeting the signing of this agreement announced launching the work of this fund, wishing that this fund can serve a wide range of students of Palestinian Universities in future, asking students who want to profit from this fund to contact the financial aid unit at Al-Quds University.
