The President of Al-Quds University, Prof. Dr. Hanna Abdel Nour, received Dr. Muhammad Khaskeia, DAAD’s Head of Department for Government Scholarship Programmes in the Middle East and North Africa, and his accompanying delegation for a visit that aimed at strengthening relations between DAAD & AQU and discussing the prospects of academic, student and research cooperation and exchange. Several AQU vice presidents and deans of colleges were among the attendees of the meeting.
Prof. Dr. Abdelnour expressed his hope to broaden the means of cooperation with German institutions to include scholarships for a large scope of disciplines, stressing the importance of learning the German language for students so that they can participate in the various coordinated trainings held in Germany.
Prof. Dr. Abdel Nour expounded on the “Dual Studies” program at the university, which stands as a notable achievement of this cooperation, launched by Al-Quds University as the first educational model of its kind in Palestine and the Middle East, combining academic education with practical training in the private sector, explaining that the university students benefit from practical training programs in Germany and the opportunity to learn the German language, which enhances their academic and professional opportunities locally and internationally.
Dr. Khaskia stressed during his visit the importance of cooperation with Al-Quds University as a leading institution of higher education in Palestine, praising the excellence of its students and its various academic programs, noting that it will offer master’s scholarships in new disciplines with the new academic year.
The delegation engaged in a series of meetings with DAAD alumni, coordinators of master’s programs, and university students within the framework of the DAAD In-Country Scholarship. the currently available scholarships are in the The following disciplines: Master of Electronics and Computer Engineering, Master of Law, Master of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Master of Medical Imaging Technology, and Master of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases. Seven students were in attendance; two students are enrolled in the Pharmaceutical Sciences program, and five students are enrolled in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program.
The delegation also met with the 120 students participating in the clinical and practical training program for the year 2025, in cooperation with the Friends of Al-Quds University in Germany.
This visit is part of a broader initiative by Al-Quds University to enhance its global partnerships and offer valuable opportunities to its students and academic staff at all levels.
