Dr. Elham Al-Khatib, Professor of Community and Preventive Dentistry and Dean of Scientific Research at Al-Quds University, has been selected to join the Global Oral Health Leadership (GOHL) 2025 program. This recognition is in honor of her outstanding efforts in promoting oral health leadership and her significant contributions to developing oral health systems in marginalized and underserved communities.
Global Leadership Development Program. The GOHL program, overseen by the International College of Dentists (ICD), is one of the world’s most renowned programs for developing strategic leadership skills for healthcare leaders. The ICD, which comprises over 12,000 dental professionals, draws on its extensive experience to promote sustainable solutions and systemic changes to address global oral health challenges.
The year-long program includes virtual sessions, project planning discussions, networking opportunities with an extensive alumni network. It also features an intensive five-day training session in Boston, Massachusetts, where participants experience hands-on leadership experiences and collaborate with global oral health experts.
Dr. Al-Khatib states that she will collaborate with leaders from different countries in the field of oral health, contributing her expertise and using best practices to promote oral health in the world. The Global Oral Health Leadership Program aims to address global health gaps by building a network of leaders who are committed to sustainable change.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Khatib’s participation in this program is in line with her mission to empower future generations of dental students at the university and promote social responsibility. Upon completion of the program, she will join an exclusive network of more than 200 global leaders in oral health, which will enhance her ability to lead impactful initiatives at local, regional, and global levels.
A Track Record of Achievements
Dr. Elham Al-Khatib has been a pioneer in her attempts to promote equitable access to oral health services, especially in affected areas and among marginalized groups. She has made significant contributions through her research on the impact of social, environmental, and political determinants on oral health, as well as her leadership roles in prestigious professional organizations, including chairing the Palestine Section of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and serving on the Advisory Board of the World Dental Federation.
