Al-Quds University Board of Trustees emphasizes its readiness to face challenges and compete globally in a meeting convened in Amman, Jordan

Al-Quds University Board of Trustees convened in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to deliberate on a range of pivotal matters pertaining to the university’s trajectory, particularly in light of its notable advancements across academic, administrative, economic, and developmental fronts. The university has also made a significant scientific contribution to global research production, particularly following its classification as the first Palestinian university to be included in the top 1000 universities globally according to the renowned QS ranking. This achievement places the university in 885th rank globally, the 1st locally and the 52nd in the Arab world.

 

Furthermore, the Board deliberated on a series of measures designed to reinforce and sustain the university’s financial and developmental stability. These include investments in the potential of the youth and a process of aligning educational outcomes with the demands of the labor market. The latter entails a decade-long initiative established by the university through its numerous international and regional partnerships.

In addition, the Board of Trustees examined a variety of presentations and reports that dealt with various topics such as university operations and empowerment initiatives emphasizing sustainability, excellence and the resilience of Jerusalemites. Additionally, the Board discussed reports pertaining to the evaluation of the governance system of Al-Quds University Association as well as the institution’s global ranking. The Board presented the accomplishments and developments of the Investment and Enterprise Fund achieved through entrepreneurship, innovation, and the expansion of Al-Quds University’s brand presence in international markets. The Board discussed the strategy of resource mobilization and endowment placement to ensure the sustainability of Al-Quds University under the “Endowment and Sustainability” item. The Board moreover discussed the efforts of the university administration in sponsoring and establishing business and technology incubators with these efforts being part of a larger strategy of economic empowerment through entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Board of Trustees commended the accomplishments of Al-Quds University in its pursuit of sustainability and academic and medicinal excellence, which exemplifies the institution’s dedication to reinforce its reputation as a pioneering academic institution through innovative pedagogical approaches, enhanced healthcare services, and strengthened international collaboration. By prioritizing strategic partnerships and updates on the development of local and International strategic partnerships, including collaborations with hospitals and health institutions to enhance the quality of medical and educational services, the university has made significant progress. This includes the transformation of hospitals into advanced academic centers and the confirmation of the university’s leading position through the attainment of academic accreditations, such as the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accreditation. This enables graduates to qualify for international certifications and helps them become competitive.

The Board also expressed Its appreciation to the university for its ongoing contribution to the development of a national framework for clinical trials. This includes the establishment of a licensed Clinical Research Organization (CRO), the development of advanced clinical sites to support clinical research in accordance with ethical and scientific standards, alongside the enhancement of the Center for Quality in Medical Laboratories (CQML) which represents a cornerstone of the university’s commitment to quality assurance in laboratory services in Palestine and the region, focusing on achieving international standards, producing quality control materials, and expanding its capabilities to meet the needs of local and regional laboratories.

Moreover, the Board reasserted its pride and support for the university’s strategy of global orientation as an academic beacon of knowledge and enlightenment in the capital, Jerusalem, disseminating its message to the entire world. The Board also commended the university’s remarkable advancement as reflected in the renowned QS ranking, which serves to enhance its status and the academic and professional reputation of its graduates, exemplified in the percentage of graduates employed in their chosen fields which reached approximately 70%, as well as the university’s academic reputation which increased by 215%. Add to that the university being the first Palestinian university to achieve the 885th rank globally; a significant milestone for Palestinian higher education as a whole.

In his remarks, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishk, expressed gratitude to the Board of Trustees for their support and rigorous oversight of the university’s advancement. He underscored their commitment to implementing the university’s strategic plan for economic stability and academic excellence. He further emphasized that Al-Quds University in its entirety, comprising the Board of Trustees, administration, staff, students, and the Jerusalem local community, endeavors to consolidate the institution’s accomplishments over the past decade and to sustain its global advancement in academic, research, and the dissemination of knowledge, as well as in the governance system of the university. This endeavor is undertaken with a commitment to transparency and modernization, enabling the university to adapt to the evolving challenges and developments within Palestine and beyond.
