The French Consul General in Jerusalem, Mr. Rene Troccaz, visited on Monday, Nov. 14th Al-Quds University. In the meeting with the President of Al-Quds University (AQU), Prof. Imad Abu Kishek and the Vice Presidents, the French General Consul discussed ways to strengthen joint cooperation.
Prof. Abu Kishek traced the history of Al-Quds University, its faculties, presenting an overview of the academic programs it offers, as well as its schemes for the future. He elaborated on the university’s centers in Jerusalem that provide vital services to its residents as part of its social responsibility towards the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and the entire Palestine.
Abu Kushek praised the university’s efforts to develop its relations with the various international institutions operating in Jerusalem and Palestine. He stressed the importance of strengthening research and academic relations with French universities and research centers, expressing his gratitude to France for the continuous support to the university in the academic and research areas.
For his part, the French Consul General lauded AQU’s academic and community services in Jerusalem, with regard to the issues that help and support the preservation of its identity of the Holy City. He expressed his interest in enhancing the research and academic cooperation between the French universities and centers and Al-Quds University.
The French delegation also met with the graduates of French universities and beneficiaries of the “Maqdisi” scholarship who presented an overview about the French government’s grants for Master’s and doctoral degrees.
At the end of the visit the French delegation toured a number of facilities, including the Public Health’s labs and the Legal Clinic.
