Al-Quds University (AQU) inaugurated on Monday, Nov. 7th, its Career Center, under the patronage of Al-Quds University President, Professor Imad Abu kishek and representatives from the U.S. Department of State and Palestine Investment Fund.
Jointly funded by the U.S. Department of State and Palestine Investment Fund, AQU Career Center, the first of its kind in Palestine, aims at helping students and graduates build their skills and gain career-related experiences to stay competitive in a fast-changing job market. Professor Abu Kishek said that the inauguration of the center is fruit of the close cooperation between AQU and the partners from the U.S. Department of State and Palestine Investment Fund.
Expressing his pleasure for the cooperation between the partners, Professor Abu Kishek stressed that the center will contribute to bridging the gap between education and the labor market, given that it will provide training and advisory services in the various fields, along with networking with the Palestinian private sector to anticipate the needs of this sector for professional skills.
The Education Officer at the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, Mr. Elie Teichman, expressed his happiness for the inauguration of the center, which will support the university students, praising the cooperation between the community and educational institutions.
Mr. Fadi Dweik, Director General of Palestine Investment Fund, said “We are proud of our partnership with this scientific edifice, a university that incubates and graduates the best academic and scientific cadres, and contributes to a real renaissance in the higher education sector in Palestine.”
Dweik expressed his pride in supporting AQU Career Center, which aims to prepare students to enter the job market by building their skills and providing training programs and employment and counseling services, including networking with the private sector. He also gave an overview of the programs they implement in Palestine Investment Fund to empower the youth.
Dr. Ahmed Ayyad, founder of AQU Career Center, said “We meet today to celebrate the inauguration of the first comprehensive and integrated career center in Palestine that will help AQU students build successful future career”. He expressed his ambitions that the center will be a pioneering model in Palestine, given that it will provide the students with a set of services relating to planning, professional development, labor market skills, and job application procedures to enhance the opportunities of competing for jobs at the local and international levels.
The AQU Career Center will provide specialized training programs to the students from the first year of enrollment at the university, in addition to providing employment and counseling services to help them plan and take appropriate decisions concerning their academic and professional future, including the possibility of networking with the private sector.
