Jerusalem | President of Al-Quds University (AQU), Prof. Imad Abu Kishek, met in his office on the main campus the Brazilian Ambassador to Palestine Alessandro Candeas and Professor Joao Vargins, of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, to enhance bilateral cooperation in the academic and research areas.
In the meeting, attended by Executive Vice President Dr. Hassan Dweik, Prof. Abu Kishek gave a brief overview of Al-Quds University, discussing the programs it offers through its various faculties and the community engagement efforts spearheaded by its numerous centers. He pointed to the development of these programs in line with the needs of the labor market and in a way that enhances students’ creative ideas.
Abu Kishek also stressed the importance of exchanging knowledge and teaching the Portuguese language at the university, which in turn will deepen collaboration between Al-Quds University and Brazilian universities, particularly the University of Rio de Janeiro, calling for strengthening cooperation and partnership in academic and student exchanges under the Erasmus Plus project.
His Excellency Mr. Candeas praised AQU for its aspiring academic schemes and programs, expressing his gratitude for inviting him to the university within the efforts of both sides to deepen relations between both the Brazilian universities and research centers and AQU, and to exchange knowledge and experiences, including student exchanges.
During the visit, Professor Joao Vargins gave a lecture in which he talked about experience in studying Arabic language 50 years ago, describing it as a beautiful language.
Dean of the faculty of Arts Prof. Salah Al-Hodaliyyeh presented an overview of the scientific and practical life of Professor Joao Fargins, stressing the importance of this visit in enhancing cultural cooperation between both sides.
The visit was concluded by a tour of the annual fine arts exhibition that was being held on campus.
