Jerusalem | President of Al-Quds University (AQU), Professor Imad Abu Kishek, received in his office on the main campus the Swiss representative to Palestine, HE Mr. Victor Favrica to discuss the university’s current and future development and research plans and the mechanisms for promoting academic and student exchanges between AQU and Swiss universities and research centers.
During the meeting, the university president provided the Swiss official with an overview about the successive developments that Al-Quds University has been undergoing in scientific research and social contributions. He explained the university’s plan to transform into an influential and innovative academic institution by enhancing education, research, and creativity.
Abu Kishek cited the services that the university provides in Jerusalem through its centers that were established specifically to empower the Arab Jerusalemites, mainly the women, by providing them with job opportunities through the university’s various programs in the city. Prof. Abu Kishek highlighted that Al-Quds University had established a business incubator, the first of its kind in the city of Jerusalem. The Business Incubator serves as a platform to catalyze the ideas of young people and help them develop and transform them into real projects.
The Swiss representative expressed his admiration of the distinguished programs and specializations offered by Al-Quds University which meet the needs of the society. He praised its research and academic developments, presenting several pioneering ideas that AQU students can work on in the future through joint cooperation with Swiss universities and research centers.
HE Mr. Favrica expressed the Swiss Representative’s interest in supporting Palestinian women and empowering them through exchanging experiences and assigning specialists to train AQU students on how to develop modern mechanisms for creating job opportunities.
Al-Quds University keeps updating its academic and research programs to meet the needs of the market. For this purpose, the university has created numerous partnerships with universities and centers locally and across the world to support its faculty and students in building their research capacities and serving the Palestinian society.
