The Philosophy Department at Al-Quds University hosted Professor Thomas Pogge, the Leitner Professor at Yale University to lead a talk about the Health Policy and Pharmaceutical Industries, at the Main Theatre at Engineering College.
In this lecture Professor Pogge wanted to ensure that medications get to those who need it most. He has published on a wide range of subjects such as global justice and human rights.
It’s worth mentioning that Professor Pogge is originally from Germany, and received his PhD in philosophy from Harvard in 1983, since then, he has taught philosophy, political science, and ethics at universities around the world. His 2002 book, World Poverty and Human Rights, offers proposals on how to achieve global economic quality.
In addition, In 2008, Professor Pogge co-authored The Health Impact Fund, which lays out the plan to make life –saving medicines accessible for everyone. He is currently Leitner professor of philosophy and International Affairs at Yale University.
