About Us
The Academic International Relations Office at Al-Quds University strives to enrich the academic and cultural experience of the university’s students, faculty, researchers, employees, and administrators. It also tries to benefit from the experiences of the visiting students and professors.
The office is in charge for planning and coordinating the academic relations programs to promote and disseminate international academic cooperation initiatives. To achieve all this, the office communicates with the different related departments at the university
The Academic International Relations Office is responsible for planning, managing and coordinating AQU’s international academic relation programs; for promoting, disseminating and running its international academic cooperation initiatives, and for setting up and coordinating the University’s internationalization and partnership programs. To achieve all this, the office communicates with the different related departments at the university.
AIRO puts an emphases that mobility programs are based on objectives that encourages faculty and students to engage in mobility activities. The AIRO promotes the mobility and fellowship programs through announcing funding opportunities, organizing information sessions, andparticipates in preparing the English Placement Test by cooperating with the British council and the AMIDEAST.
AIRO connects AQU’s students and staff through: Mobility of academics (guests lectures, study tours, research visits); Mobility of students (exchange semesters, summer schools, language courses); and through a wide range of universities in Europe, USA, India and China.
In addition to the Mobility programs, The Zamala program for academic and professional development, which is funded by Bank of Palestine and in partnership with the Taawon (Welfare Association) to offer opportunities for the University’s Academics, Researchers and Administrative Staff to apply for fellowship to improve the quality of higher education in Palestine through gaining the required expertise in their specializations.

Objectives
Support the establishment of new international mobility agreements
Promote and increase the flow of outgoing AQU students, scholars and staff as well as incoming international students and scholars by signing international mobility programs agreements.
Support the creation and consolidation of stable networks of cooperation
Facilitate and establish cooperation networks with international partners for mutual projects, academic and research development by signing agreements with universities in all regions of the world.
Support the development of international projects as well as the establishment of international double, multiple or joint degrees
Provide services in proposal development to the Centers, Departments and Faculties at AQU when applying for projects and degrees under international programs to ensure the quality of the proposal and a good coordination between the partners in order to improve the success rate for international programs applications.
Support Program linguistic and intercultural competence
Linguistic and cultural programs are an important element in the internationalization of AQU and in increasing intercultural competence with the world.
Support the development of intercultural activities
Promote the intercultural activities within AQU to enhance the experience of international students and scholars who will help sustain AQU’s position as an international education promoter.

Our Team

Dr. Abdel Nour already has more than 28 years of academic and administrative experience at Al-Quds University (AQU), a major Palestinian Higher Education Institution (HEI). Throughout the years he did put all his efforts in the development of Electronics Engineering; he enabled the capacity building of academic staff members in the fields of Digital Signal Processing and Communications, stimulated the research activity in both fields, and initiated the nationally well-known Master Programme of Electronic and Computer Engineering in cooperation with the University of Bordeaux I in France.
Dr. Abdel Nour had consecutively been Chairman of the Electronic Engineering Department, Dean of the faculty of Engineering, Dean for Admission and Registration, and Dean of Post Graduate Studies. At present, he is the Vice President for Academic Affairs. He has been involved in the institutional setting, policies, and growth of a dynamic university that is imposing itself on the National level and is seeking a place on the global scene. At present, and in his capacity of Vice President for Academic Affairs (as of September 2012), Dr. Abdel Nour is leading a set of reforms in several fields and at all levels to transform learning in AQU; one major project is the introduction in 2015 of the dual studies system in three fields of specialisation (a project financed by the German Government).
At the National level, Dr. Abdel Nour had been the first Palestinian National TEMPUS Office Coordinator for 20 months with all what this position entails in terms of undertaking raising awareness campaigns, promoting cooperation with European Universities, facilitating the design of new projects, evaluating projects submitted to ETF, and monitoring on-going projects. He also undertook consultancy activities such as the development of benchmarks and program specifications for the IT & Electrical Engineering Fields in Palestine, and mapping Vocational Education and Training and preliminary analysis of the VET system. At present (2015) he is leading four Palestinian universities, including AQU, in the development of graduate courses and innovation activities in the field of Food and Agri-Business (a project funded by the Dutch Government).
Asma Bader is the mobility coordinator of the Academic International Relations Office at Al-Quds University.
Mrs. Bader received her bachelor degree in Computer Science in 2004 and got the master degree in Business Administration in 2011 from Al-Quds University.
Mrs. Asma Bader has great experience in managing and developing academic networks/partnerships with partners in the EU and the whole world.
Mrs. Bader believes in the importance of developing partnerships globally because these partnerships open up a unique experience for students that could be the best in their university life.
