القدس – كرمت كلية "مورو" في جامعة واشنطن و مكتب التعليم والشؤون الثقافية بوزارة الخارجية الأمريكية الأسبوع الماضي الطالبة في جامعة القدس – كلية الإعلام/ بارد ، حلا خالد كنعان لحصولها على المرتبة الثانية في الاداء المتميز ضمن دورة "قيادات الطلبة في الاعلام الجديد".
واشتملت الدورة التي إبتدأت في السادس عشر من حزيران، وانتهت في الحادي والعشرين من تموز ، على محاضرات في الصحافة الحرة بالولايات المتحدة ، إلى جانب الحديث عن العلاقة بين الاعلام ومتطلبات المجتمع لبحث سبل تطويره، إضافة الى تصوير واخراج الأفلام الوثائقية .
وشارك في الدورة (20) طالبًا موزعين على خمس دول عربية هي : العراق، البحرين، اليمن ،عمان و فلسطين التي مثلّها إلى جانب حلا كنعان كل من محمد هادية من مدينة رام الله ، وعمر جودة ونهاية جابر من قطاع غزة.
وفي الأسبوع الاخير من الدورة زار الطلبة ولاية كاليفورنيا للتعرف على شركات الاعلام الجديد، لا سيما جوجل ، يوتيوب وتويتر، وتعرفوا على طريقة عمل الشركات وكيفية تطويعها لخدمة المجتمع . ومن ثم انتقلوا إلى العاصمة واشنطن في زيارة لمقر قناة الجزيرة باللغة الإنجليزية من أجل التعرف على الإختلافات بين الاعلام العربي والغربي من خلال قناة عربية. كما تعرف الطلبة في جولتهم على أهم المعالم السياحية في الولايات المتحدة وقاموا بزيارة مبنى الكونغرس الذي قام بتمويل البرنامج.
و شاركت حلا في الحفل الختامي للتدريب بعرض بعض الفيديوهات التي صورتها هناك ، إضافة إلى عرض بعض من أعمالها السابقة في عالم الأفلام ولا سيما برنامجها الشبابي "مجرد سؤال" الذي انتشر بين شباب الجامعات الفلسطينية، كما نشرت مقالة " يوم الاستقلال الأمريكي -الفلسطيني " على مدونتها الخاصة http://halakanan.wordpress.com حيث عبرت من خلالها عن حزنها لمشاهدة الشعب الامريكي يحتفل بيوم استقلاله في الوقت الذي لم يذق فيه الشعب الفلسطيني نكهة هذه الفرحة ، مختتمة مقالتها بمناشدة الشعب الأمريكي انتخاب رئيس يؤيد الشعوب المطالبة بالحرية ولا سيما الشعب الفلسطيني.

"Yesterday July 4th the Americans celebrated their independence day in Washington State. Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.
Since it’s a federal holiday, so all non-essential federal institutions are closed on that day, Almost each family celebrate it in their way, some decides to stay home, while the most go out with their friends and families such as the SUSI students from the Middle East went to a park in Pullman to celebrate. They had fun celebrating the day with their friends, everyone was dancing and singing the American songs.
When I interviewed the Palestinian guys who came across thousands of miles to participate in this program, each one had different feelings;
Omar Jouda who is 20 years old said “Even though the fireworks sounds and lights reminded me of the bombing and the long dark nights without electricity back in Gaza, it was really amazing to participate in such a wonderful event and to see all these people from all this different cultures and colors celebrating one Independence Day with lots of joy and fun”
While when I asked NihayaJaber from Gaza she said “Yesterday, I celebrated with the Americans their Independence Day, and honestly it was amazing. Even though I had fun, but I felt jealous. I wondered why my people cannot live this moment. That would be one of their simplest rights to celebrate for being independent on their own land, to taste freedom, and to enjoy dancing the traditional Palestinian dance, Dabka, while the Palestinian songs are on”
However, when I met Mohammad Hadia the 20 years old from Ramallah he commented “The United States celebrates Independence Day every July 4th. As a Palestinian, I envy that. I do not envy America’s wealth, or power, I envy its ability to celebrate its independence. When will it be our turn?”
Being a Palestinian without a recognized state celebrating the American Independence day could easily make a Palestinian girl to cry when she sees everyone dancing, having fun and singing for their land while she is the only one who could not know the meaning of freedom!
I remember AyaKanan, a Palestinian girl in her 16s who came to Washington 2 years ago but still has almost the same feelings. Aya also went to a park in Washington State to share her friend’s happiness to celebrate her day, when they sat down to have a rest before the fireworks could start she was looking beside her and found an Israeli girl drawing her flag on her hand, she cried and the only thing she was able to do is that she took out the Palestinian flag out of her bag and raised it so high and ran everywhere between people and sang “Oh my land, Oh my land. Oh freedom Oh freedom”.
