Al-Quds University President Prof. Imad Abu Kishk received a delegation from Harvard University and the Swedish Herbert Kellman Institute at the university campus in Beit Hanina, in the presence of his Vice President for Jerusalem Affairs, Prof. Imad Al-Khatib; Director of Al-Aqsa Association for the Care of Islamic Endowments and Holy Places, Sheikh Kamel Rayan, and Director of the International Studies and Diplomacy Program at Jerusalem Bard College, Dr. Amna Badran.
Prof. Imad Abu Kishk welcomed the delegation and told them about the establishment of the university and its faculties, its various locations and centers in Jerusalem and beyond, referring to the advanced positions the university has occupied at the international level, most recently the QS global ranking. He also emphasized the importance of opening channels of cooperation with international institutions such as Harvard University, with which Al-Quds University has a strong relationship, and the Kellman Institute (specialized in conflict resolution).
During the meeting, the attendees discussed ways and prospects of enhancing cooperation and building a distinguished partnership with Harvard University and the Herbert Kellman Institute of Sweden, which specializes in conflict resolution with Al-Quds University.
Dr. Jeff Saul, professor of international law at Harvard Law School, stressed the importance of informing American foreign policy makers about the Palestinian cause and its justice through visits and student exchanges from different programs at Harvard University, and providing diverse opportunities for students to enrich different ideas about the issue.
In addition, Mr. Nayef Sharqiya, a member of the Swedish Herbert Kellman Institute and a social activist in areas related to supporting and developing Arab society and conflict resolution, stressed the importance of this meeting, praising Al-Quds University’s strategic vision, and pointed out the need to find ways to support the youth sector in Palestine, enabling it to face the great challenges facing Palestinian society.
Sheikh Kamel Rayan, an activist in the Palestinian interior on issues of conflict resolution and community development, spoke about Al-Quds University and its symbolism and special status, noting the need to think strategically in areas that serve Palestinian youth.
It is noteworthy that Al-Quds University always seeks to deepen and develop ways of partnership with international institutions and join hands to achieve one goal that serves the interests of students and the Palestinian society in all its categories.
