Constantly, through the yearly membership call opening and renewal, the club endeavors to welcome and embrace beginner and junior researchers, ingraining them with scientific research basics and offering them research opportunities to publish their own research articles.

This year, the club constitutes more than 200 members of the MRC Family, and includes a variety of members from Al-Quds University mainly, and Al-Azhar University of Gaza.

Subheading 1: Become a Member

In early September, the Medical Research Club opens its membership doors for Al-Quds University medical students from the second year to two years post-graduation. Applicants who show passion for research, and work hard on their applications are accepted to join the MRC family and engage in our member-exclusive activities and projects. Our members enter a research hub full of like-minded research enthusiasts and are connected with professionals and peers who share their research interests in a professional display of research aspirations.

Though MRC membership offers a plethora of perks, aspiring researchers who have yet to join our club can still join the educational lectures we announce via our Facebook page. Moreover, you can contact us via our email for any additional help. Make sure to apply for membership in the upcoming academic year!

Subheading 2: Members’ Insights

A section of high school graduates are heading towards medical specializations in universities with many questions in the field of medicine revolving in their minds; about sciences related to the human body. The student becomes lost in his thoughts and questions and is unable to express his idea, and hence the idea may be lost. Fortunately, medical students at Al-Quds University have been blessed with the Medical Research Club, where it conducts research and develops research ideas that may be useful in improving science, as MRC is interested in spreading the culture of scientific research in Palestine. The MRC works to develop the skills necessary for scientific research, and by working to develop them, this is how a generation of researchers is created, creative in solving or interpreting problems, and this develops the world in the future.

MRC is a big push towards starting a career in research and scientific writing. My experience through the past 3 years yielded more than opportunities, it has yielded the tools that anyone needs to call himself a researcher. MRC taught me the basic skills needed to write a scientific paper through their courses and close supervision, and also went beyond writing to practical workshops, such as the unique Molecular Techniques Workshop. Through my membership, I published a case report, and I’m currently working on other projects. I owe this ability to become part of publications to the MRC, best wishes to future members who can become and give more than we did.

Over the past four years, the club has always worked on enhancing and consolidating the basic knowledge that we already have while integrating it with practical parts; most notably in the educational program. I’ve also had the privilege of participating in many research opportunities that I’d thank the club for providing them. I was able to write and present my first case report at the Second MRC Summit, which was one of the most wonderful experiences that I’ve ever had.

The highlight of my year was my international observership at the INSERM Medical Genetics Lab. This visit came as a follow-up to a 2-year observership at the AQU Molecular Genetics Lab under Dr. Fawwaz Awad, which was offered to me and my colleague via MRC. I think these opportunities were perfect for me because they offer hands-on experience in molecular genetics, and also granted me the pleasure of meeting so many renowned names in molecular biology. I’m ecstatic to get more opportunities to visit research labs around the globe, and can’t wait to see my fellow club members do the same

Yes, I can do it! That was my reaction when I worked on publishing my 1st paper. Well, I actually want to do it again and again. The feeling of pride, accomplishment, and thirst to do more has predominated. My ability to break through this barrier has given me the confidence to pursue more projects. I extremely encourage everybody to break through this barrier and highly recommend MRC as a great supporting platform to do so.
