Mahmoud K Eljafari obtained his B.sc degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Jordan in 1980, and his M.A and PhD degrees in Economics/ Agricultural Economics from the University of Mississippi and university Missouri- Columbia, U.S in 1982, and 1986, respectively.
Currently, he is Professor of Economics at AlQuds University of Jerusalem, the former Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Director of the Institute of Business and Economics. In addition, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Business –Islamic University-Gaza.
He was a visiting Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, as well as at the University of Toronto, Canada and recently, the University of Florence -Italy. He was a visiting Professor at Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, Ann- Arbor. He was awarded the Shoman prize for the year 1994 as the best young economist in the Arab World. In addition, he was a member in the Palestinian Monetary Authority Board. Besides that, he is a member in the Advisory Committee of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics. In addition, he was one of the one of the Best World-wide Business Schools in the years 2008-2009, granted by EDUNIVERSAL, FRANCE.
He has published several articles in the areas of agricultural economics, international trade, economics of education and labor economics in international refereed journals. He is a research Fellow at the ERF in Cairo, Egypt and at MAS, Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute in Ramallah, Palestine. He is a member in the Steering Committee, FemiseNet Work (Marseille, France.
