The first article is a review article entitled “Diabetes mellitus: the epidemic of the century” by Dr. Akram Kharroubi and Dr. Hisham Darwish. The review article will appear on June 25, 2015 in “World Journal of Diabetes” volume 6. The article was written upon the request of the journal. The review article covers the latest information about the different types of diabetes, classification criteria, diagnostic methods, and genetics of diabetes. The article also covers prediabetes and diagnostic criteria.

The second article is an original article entitled “Total antioxidant status in type 2 diabetic patients in Palestine” published in “Journal of Diabetes Research” volume 2015 on June 2015 by Dr. Akram Kharroubi and a team from the Faculty of Medicine (Dr. Hisham Darwish), Faculty of Science and Technology (Dr. Abdelkareem Alshareef, Dr. Mutaz Akkawi, Mr. Zaher Almasri), Faculty of Public Health (Dr. Khaldoun Bader) and UNRWA (Dr. Umaiyeh Khammash). The antioxidant status in Palestinian diabetes patients compared to controls in UNRWA refugee camps, Jalazone, Ama’ari, and Kalandia was investigated.
