Ph. D. (Summa cum Laude) in engineering sciences, city and regional planning from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany in 1998. Assistant professor in the Department of geography and city studies at Al Quds University since 2008, he is a member of several committees in the Faculty of Arts, Bard College and the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
He also supervised and participated in the preparation and conduct of research in the city of Jerusalem, in the field of alternative energy and seawater desalination and in Environmental Sciences. He published several geopolitical studies and research on the city of Jerusalem, as well as geomorphological and other research related to City Planning and the urban environment in scientific journals, and discovered the first evidence of herbivorous dinosaurs in Palestine.
Amneh Badran is a doctor of comparative politics, a graduate of Exeter University, the UK. She has an MA in Middle East Politics from the same university.
She is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science and the Regional Studies Institute at AlQuds University. Her publications include: a book “Zionist Israel and Apartheid South Africa: Civil Society and Peace Building in Ethnic-National States”, Routledge – Taylor and Francis, London 2010. A chapter in an edited book: The Future of Jerusalem as envisioned by Israeli (Jewish) protest group. Book’s title: Cities in Conflict and the Contested State, the Palgrave Press, 2013. Holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Najah National University (1986, and an MA in English Literature from the Hebrew University. Anwar joined Al-Quds University in 1991, and teaches poetry, drama, fiction, and literary theory and criticism.
Dr. Awad Mansour is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and the Institute for Global Studies. Before joining the teaching staff at the Faculty of Arts at Al-Quds University in 1996, he was a researcher at the Palestine Human Rights Information Center (PHRIC) in Jerusalem where he contributed to the publications and in writing reports to various UN committees. Dr. Mansour’s research interests are: settler-colonialism, the Arab-Israeli Conflict, Orientalism, modern state-formation and global studies. He has several publications.
Azhar Khalaileh is currently a research and teaching assistant at Al-Quds University’s Languages Center. She earned her B.A in English Language and Literature from Al-Quds University. Furthermore, she is currently studying for her Master’s Degree in Arts of Teaching English Language at Al-Quds Bard College. Azhar’s recent educational research has focused on the development of higher order thinking skills for teaching English as a second language by using the flipped classroom strategy trends in education. She is particularly interested in the philosophies of education and educational development, cross-cultural educational management, and leadership.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Jordan in 1994, her Master’s Degree in Modern Philosophical Literature from Al-Quds University in 2003, and her Ph.D. in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the Arab Research University in Egypt in 2007.
She has several research papers and published books in Modern Arabic Literature, Modern Palestinian Literature and Travel Literature.
She is now The Head of the Department of Arabic Language and the Coordinator of two programs the Master’s Program in Arabic Language and Literature and the Contemporary Islamic Studies from 286 till now.

Fatima Abu Khater Adileh is an assistant professor at the Language Centre. She has a PhD in Methods of English Language Teaching from Amman/ Jordan. She contributed in many national and international conferences and symposiums related to English language teaching and learning where she presented many research papers. Among these are the 1st and 2nd National Symposium of Quality of Teaching which were held at Birzeit University (2008 & 2009) and the 3rd International Conference entitled “Teaching material and its contribution to educational practice”, which was held at Hertfordshire University, Athens, Greece (2009), where she presented a study entitled “The employment of music and songs in teaching English language” which was published in the scientific journal of this conference. Also, she has contributions in many training courses and workshops with the AMIDEAST, Birzeit University, Al Quds University and many other institutions. Some of these are a “Workshop of Excellence in Teaching”, AMIDEAST (2008) and a training course of “Professional Certificate of English Language Teaching (PCELT)”, AMIDEAST (2017). She obtained the Erasmus+ Scholarship by International Credit Mobility programme of the European Union at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal (2019).
A teacher of Natural Geography and Climate in the Department of Geography and City Studies in the College of Arts, specializing in Applied Climate, I was appointed as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Geography and Urban Studies – College of Arts from 1-9-2004, where I was appointed as a research and teaching assistant for a period of three Years, then joined a master’s program in geography at An-Najah National University and obtained a master’s degree in physical geography (specializing in applied climate), after which I was promoted to a professor in the Department of Geography and City Studies in 2008. I also participated in many committees at the level of the Faculty of Arts, and contributed In developing the study plan for the Department of Geography and also contributed to the development of some courses in the department.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Al-Quds University in 2003 and a master’s degree in physical geography from An-Najah National University, specializing in applied climate in 2008.

Assistant Professor in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature/College of Arts/al-Quds University. He holds a PhD from the University of Jordan in 2007, the title of the doctoral thesis is “The Impact of Pre-Islamic Poetry on Andalusian Literature from the Fourth Century A.H. to the Mid-Sixth Century” and a master’s degree from the University of Jordan in 1993, specializing in pre-Islamic literature, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Jordan in 1989. The General Secondary School from Ni’lin Secondary School in 1985 AD, and he was among the top ten in Palestine. He published several research papers in Arabic literature and criticism in its early age, supervised many master’s theses, and discussed dozens of master’s theses at al-Quds University and in other Palestinian universities.
Mr. Jamal Nafi’ holds a PhD in English Literature from Rajasthan University in (2002). He joined the Department of English Language and Literature / College of Arts in 2006. He teaches: Literary Theory, Survey of English Literature I & II, Survey, American Literature, Poetry, Fiction, Contemporary Poetry, Modern Drama, Mythology/Religion in Literature, Seminar in Literature.
Dr Nafi’ has research interests in English and English Literature, and has published extensively in this area.
Jenan Adel is a research and teaching assistant at Al-Quds University’s languages Center since 2018. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from Al-Quds University. Then, she has earned her Master’s degree of Arts in Teaching from Bard College and Al-Quds University. Her research focuses on how brainstorming and concept mapping as writing strategies influence students’ writing skills. Her research claims that mind mapping strategy has the potential to improve students’ writing performance. Her goal is to investigate the influence of applying map concept on improving students’ writing skills and finding out if there are any significant differences in the learner’s performance in writing due to the influence of applying map concept on improving students’ writing skills. Her interests focus on helping students to develop their skills in writing and communication. In addition, she focuses on providing teaching methods to her faculty.
Mr. Khairi holds a BA in Arabic Language and Literature from Bir Zeit University (1986), an MA in Arabic Literature from Yarmouk University (1997) and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Jordan. He has Joined the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at Al-Quds University since 1999. He had a part-time job at Bir Zeit University from -1998-2005 and Al-Quds Open University from 2001-2007. Dr. Khalid Hreish, born in the city of Nazareth, in 1964, is an associate professor and faculty member in the Department of Social Work / Faculty of Arts, Al Quds University. He earned his bachelor degree in social work and Master’s degrees from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Dr. Hreish holds a doctorate from the (New Bulgarian University) in Sofia. He published several articles in both languages: Arabic and English at local, regional and international journals. Hreish’s research interests include: obstacles and challenges in the work of supervisors and social workers, drug addiction, family violence in its various forms, and university students’ problems.
Leila Ayyad is a faculty member of the Language Center. She has an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from Al-Quds University and a BA in English from Bethlehem University. She is currently a postgraduate student at Tel-Aviv University in the department of English and American Literature. Her research interests include Orientalism, Lacanian analysis, Human rights in American literature, and postcolonial literature in the Arab world after 9/11.
Associate Professor of Urban Geography and Urban Planning, he holds a PhD from the Arab Republic of Egypt in 2009, and master’s degree in urban and regional planning in 2004, and a bachelor’s degree in geography and city studies in 2000, He worked as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Geography and Urban Studies – College of Arts from 1-10-2004, he held administrative positions, including: Academic Assistant to the Dean of the College of Arts for three years, and he also held the position of Head of the Department of Geography and City Studies for three terms. He has participated in several scientific conferences and symposia in his field of specialization, He has several published scientific papers, His scientific interests are concentrated in: urban studies such as urbanization and urban development in cities, urban dominance, visual pollution in cities and other related issues, urban housing, He has scientific and academic contributions and contributions represented in his work as an arbitrator in several refereed scientific journals, He has supervised a number of master’s theses within the master’s program in geography and regional planning, and is an external examiner in master’s programs at the level of Palestine.
Dr Thawabteh holds a PhD in Translation and Intercultural Studies from Universidad de Granada, Spain in 2007. Dr Thawabteh teaches language, linguistics and translation at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research interests include Translator Training, Translation Studies, Pragmatics, Cultural Studies and Discourse analysis.
Mutasem Alnaser is an Associate Professor of History in the Department of History at Al Quds University, where he teaches courses in History and Regional Arab Studies. He earned his PhD in Modern and Contemporary History from The Institute of Arab Research and Studies in Cairo. Prior to joining Al-Quds University, Mutasem Alnaser worked as a full-time faculty member in the Department of History at Al Quds Open University and Birzait University in Ramallah, (Palestine). His Ph.D. thesis focused on “The Political Arab Life in Jerusalem between 1918 and1934.” Published by the Reviving Islamic Heritage and Research / Jerusalem / Palestine .2009.
Mr Nofal holds an MA in Linguistics from Ohio University (1990). He joined the Department of English Language and Literature / Faculty of Arts in 1997. Mr Nofal teaches language and linguistics courses such as Introduction to Linguistics, Phonetics and Phonology, Advanced Grammar, Sociolinguistics, and Semantics.
Najwa Sado Safadi, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at Al-Quds University, Department of Social Work. She received her Ph.D. in social work from Boston College with a concentration in poverty and social policy. She earned her master’s degree in social work with a concentration in community organizing from McGill University in Canada and her bachelor’s degree in sociology and social work from Bethlehem University, Palestine. Her research interests are poverty and social policy with an emphasis on anti-poverty policies, international aid, government performance, civic engagement and social welfare, in the Global South countries. Her research has appeared in a number of peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Safadi served as an abstract and manuscript reviewer for national and international conferences as well as several journals. She has been the principal investigator on five major research projects to date on topics related to social workers well-being, domestic violence and anti-poverty policies. In addition, Dr. Safadi has several years of experience in teaching and social work practice in Jerusalem and West Bank.
Omar Abu Ghoush is an instructor at the Language Center at al-Quds University. He began his education career as an English language teacher in 2014. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and Language from Birzeit University (2012) and a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Jordan (2017). His research interests in the field Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) are in the following areas: “the impact of the virtual classroom on SLA”, “narrative and identity in language learning”, “performance-based learning and assessment”, and “task-based learning”.
Mr Najjar holds a PhD in Translation from Herriot Watt University (2006) and a DPSI in Scottish Law (2004). Dr. Najjar has joined the Department of English Language and Literature / Faculty of Arts in 1986. He teaches Translation and interpreting courses at the MA level and Translation and English Language courses at the BA level. He has research interests in the developing methods in interpreter training.

Omayma Qaraqra is a research and assistant teacher with four years of experience in teaching English Language skills at Al-Quds University’s Languages Center. Mrs. Randa Abu holds an MA in English Literature form Leeds University (2007). Dr. Rania Al-Muhtadi is an assistant professor at the faculty of humanities and currently responsible for training students to participate in debate and arbitration competitions. She had held various administrative positions at Al-Quds University. Dr. Rania was an acting Dean of Scientific Research, director of the language center and coordinator of the University requirements. Dr. Rania taught several courses such a Global Civilization with emphasis on Andalusia civilization and Spanish languages and literature. Dr. Rania had worked, previously, in different projects related to environment and water, such as coordinating ground water resources, water harvesting, water conservation, and house garden maintenance. Dr. Rania had experience in the development of e-learning courses; she was involved in the development of blended course for the university requirement and the training of the faculty members to use such courses. She was involved in various EU projects and had good experience in writing project proposals. Dr. Rania received Best teacher award in the year 2015.
Professor Salah Hussein Al-Houdalieh is an archaeologist with a doctorate from the Institute of Pre- and Early History at the University of Heidelberg (1999), a master degree in archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology at Yarmouk University (1992), and a Bachelor degree in archaeology, anthropology and sociology from Bir Zeit University (1987).
Since 2000, Al-Houdalieh has been appointed three times as a chairman of the Dept. of Archaeology and the Institute of Archaeology of Al-Quds University. His current research and teaching interests include archaeology and ethnography in the Levant, cultural identity, antiquities looting and looters, mosaics, the heritage ethics, Roman-Byzantine architecture, and the stratigraphy of the Early Bronze Age in the Middle East. Several of his fieldwork projects have examined how both urban development and the looting of antiquities sites are impacting
Palestine’s cultural heritage and endangering its archaeological resources. In the time period between 2000 and 2020, he has conducted a wide range of fieldwork projects, including excavations, surveys and conservation & restoration at several different sites such as Kh. et-tireh, Kh. el-Lauz, and Kh. Shuwayka. Al-Houdalieh is on the editorial boards of several journals, and is the author of a series of books as well as many field reports and scholarly articles.

Assistant Professor-Master’s Program in Criminology/College of Arts-Al-Quds University she works as the coordinator of the criminology MA program, The head of the Department of Social Work member and head of a number of scientific committees. Dr. Ziad Muhammad Ayyad is a Palestinian leader active in the local community and youth, volunteer in many local institutions ,he is responsible of the prisoners file at Al-Quds University which is part of the local community work of the university. He works as a professor assistant in the Political Science department and the Institute of World Studies since 2015 and is currently head of political science department .
Participated in many development committees for the Faculty of Arts and committees for following up on student cases. he holds PH.D Degree from Faculty of Public Law and Political Science at Hassan II University of Casablanca – Morocco.
